Field Trip to Cabrillo Marine Aquarium

October 29, 2008

Group Photo!Such a fun trip!

Mrs. Ornelas did a great job at planning the first field trip of the year. We went to the Cabrillo Marine Aquarium in San Pedro. It was right on the beach so the kids started off by running through the sand and finding shells along the shore.

Our tour guide, Mark, was very knowledgeable. Our tour started at 11 so after a quick stop in the gift shop everyone was ready to learn about California’s sea life. Our tour guide, Mark, was very knowledgeable and kept the kids attention. We learned about plant life and animals from teeny tiny to monstrous whale size. The best part was hands-on at the Touch Tank.

The tide poolsAfter our tour, the time was right to visit the tide pools. The kids learned about the animals that live in the tide pools from Mark at the aquarium. They had a blast running around being kids. They played with the sea anemone and hermit crabs.

On our way back to the school we all got lunch at McDonalds. Most of the kids were so worn out from the day of fun that they slept on the drive back to school.

This was a very fun trip. It’s great to see the kids so excited about learning!
